Job Summary:
AWS DoD GovCloud Professionals are responsible for designing, implementing, and managing AWS GovCloud solutions for Department of Defense (DoD) clients. These roles require a deep understanding of AWS services, cloud architecture, and specific requirements related to GovCloud environments. Professionals at all levels will work closely with clients to ensure the secure, compliant, and efficient use of AWS GovCloud services, adhering to DoD regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Junior Level:
    • Assist in the design and implementation of AWS GovCloud solutions.
    • Perform basic configuration and management of AWS GovCloud services.
    • Support senior team members in assessments and migrations of client environments to AWS GovCloud.
    • Develop and maintain documentation for cloud environments and solutions.
    • Participate in monitoring and optimizing AWS resources for performance and cost-efficiency.
    • Stay updated with the latest AWS GovCloud services and industry trends.
  • Mid-Level:
    • Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and cost-effective AWS GovCloud solutions.
    • Conduct assessments of existing client environments and develop migration strategies to AWS GovCloud.
    • Collaborate with clients to understand their business objectives and translate them into technical solutions.
    • Develop and maintain detailed documentation for cloud environments and solutions.
    • Optimize AWS GovCloud resources and manage cloud costs effectively.
    • Provide training and support to clients and internal teams on AWS GovCloud technologies.
    • Ensure compliance with DoD regulations and standards.
  • Senior Level:
    • Architect and oversee the implementation of complex AWS GovCloud solutions.
    • Lead large-scale assessments and migrations of client environments to AWS GovCloud.
    • Serve as a technical advisor and primary point of contact for DoD clients.
    • Develop and enforce best practices for cloud architecture, security, and compliance in GovCloud environments.
    • Mentor and guide junior and mid-level team members.
    • Stay abreast of the latest AWS GovCloud services, features, and DoD regulatory changes.
    • Participate in pre-sales activities, including client presentations and proposal development.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree is a plus for mid-level and senior positions.
Certifications:
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (mandatory for all levels)
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (preferred for mid-level and mandatory for senior level)
  • Additional relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Security – Specialty or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional are a plus.
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (mandatory for junior level)
Years of Experience:
  • Junior Level:
    • 1-3 years of experience in IT, with a focus on cloud computing.
    • At least 1 year of hands-on experience with AWS services.
  • Mid-Level:
    • 3-5 years of experience in IT, with a focus on cloud computing.
    • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with AWS services.
    • Proven experience in designing and implementing AWS GovCloud solutions.
  • Senior Level:
    • 5+ years of experience in IT, with a focus on cloud computing.
    • At least 5 years of hands-on experience with AWS services.
    • Demonstrated experience in architecting and leading large-scale AWS GovCloud projects.
Security Clearance:
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a relevant security clearance (e.g., Secret, Top Secret, etc.) as required by the position.
Technical Skills:
  • Extensive knowledge of AWS GovCloud services and architecture.
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles and best practices.
  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong understanding of networking, security, and compliance in GovCloud environments.
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages (Python, Java, PowerShell, etc.).
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch, ELK Stack).

  • This role may require occasional travel to client sites, especially for mid-level and senior positions.
